Concrete Frames
Reinforced concrete, or rebar, is widely used by AD Bly within multi-story constructions. These materials in modern construction are brought together to resist multiple tensile forces. Concrete is a relatively brittle on its own, so to increase its overall strength, steel rods, wires, mesh, or cables are embedded in the concrete before it sets. Together, the two materials combined, resist a variety of applied forces, effectively acting as a single structural element.

Shell and core is an early stage of a buildings overall construction, in terms of a preparing the building for fit-out. It refers to the installation of the overall structure of the building, which gives the 'shell'. This stage, otherwise known as the Cat A fit-out, brings the occupiable space up to a concrete only structural stage. The building is now ready for the Cat B development, whereby the internal fit-out can commence, including services, partitioning walls, flooring and decorating, ready for occupation.

Sometimes, a shell and core project will be fitted out to a Cat A standard, the scope of which varies between different developers, but typically a shell and core stage of the building includes the cladding, base plant, stairwells and communal areas, toilets, external works, receptions and lobbies, lift shafts, basements, car parking and loading bays.
Insitu concrete works will be carried out by our own specialist steel fixing and carpentry teams supervised by time served supervisors trained in these specialist techniques.

Transfer Slabs

Transfer slabs are commonly used in multi-storey buildings, and they are major structural elements carrying a number of floors. Normally the entire building, 10 to 15 levels, is carried by a transfer slab. Often areas of the deck will require waterproofing with drainage running to gullies and outfalls. Terrace areas will require paving on specialist pedestal spacers.

Basements and Undercroft car parks

Basements can be constructed using brick or concrete block retaining walls, Insitu concrete or pre-cast concrete. At AD Bly, we can construct multi-story basements or even below-ground parking garages or under croft parking, which occupies the footprint of the building.

At AD Bly, our concrete frame building solutions, provides for a comprehensively finished project. Our technical expertise and capabilities with a fully qualified workforce and competent supervisors will ensure all works are completely within our scope.
